Educators design authentic, learner-driven activities and environments that recognize and accommodate learner variability.
Learner driven activities in my shop sometimes consist of letting my students weld display projects and then we have a family night so friends, family and loved ones can come by the shop and see what they have been doing. Students get motivated when they realize loved ones are going to be able to compare their work to the work completed by others. Below is a graphic flyer advertising a family night for my students.

The following voice thread is an example of how an educator can accommodate the students in their class that need repeated instruction or had to miss class for some reason. The voice thread is similar to the lesson I teach in the classroom. Some students can follow along and understand the first time I cover a topic. With a voice thread, students have access to the lesson 24/7 and can watch as many times as needed. Take a look at my voice thread in the link below:

The following lesson is a screen cast project. While the topic of the lesson is not welding related it is student related. Sometimes students need a reset, or time to release some of the stress brought own by learning. Geo cashing is a great way to get out doors, get some exercise, and maybe work on some basic team building. Check out the screen cast below.
One of the many tools I learned about during this class is soft chalk. Soft chalk is another great tool for students to use to complete lessons on their own time and use as much as they want. To help students use and recognize welding terminology fun activity's such as crossword puzzles and word find games can be incorporated within the lesson. Check it out below
